The Undersecretary of State for Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, Maria Tripodi, today concluded her mission to New York on the occasion of the UNGA80 High-Level Week, participating in the EU\u2013CELAC Ministerial Meeting, a preparatory step towards the upcoming November Summit in Santa Marta.<\/p>\n
In her remarks, the Undersecretary emphasised that cooperation between Europe, Latin America, and the Caribbean is both valuable and necessary, highlighting the economic and trade dimension, as well as issues of security and sustainable development. \u201cRecent progress in agreements between the EU and Latin American partners confirms the potential for an even stronger economic partnership. In times of uncertainty, we must strengthen our interconnections and diversify markets to the benefit of both regions,\u201d Tripodi stated. \u201cWe face common threats: organised crime, drug trafficking, and irregular migration. These challenges can only be tackled through closer cooperation \u2013 and Italy stands ready to contribute its own experience\u201d.<\/p>\n
