The country\u2019s first supplier is China, with 4.95 billion USD, or 11.98% of total Algerian imports. Next is France, historically the country\u2019s leading supplier, with 4.70 billion dollars, or 11.37% of the total. Italy has regained the third place, which it had lost in the first half of the year, with 3.95 billion (9.57%), slightly ahead of Spain\u2019s 3.93 billion (9.52%). <\/P><br \/>\n<P>The European Union continues to be Algeria\u2019s principal trading partner, accounting for 52% of the country\u2019s imports for a value of 21.5 billion, and for 65.7% of its exports. Algeria\u2019s main customers (mainly for natural gas and oil) are also European: led by Spain, with 7.47 billion, or 15% of total exports, followed by Italy, with 6.94 billion (14%). <\/P><br \/>\n<P>Our country has reduced its imports from Algeria by 23.5% on the same period in 2012, thus confirming the downwards trend, especially for gas. In the first nine months of 2013 Algerian imports<A name=_GoBack><\/A> amounted to 41.33 billion dollars, compared with exports, mainly of oil and gas, worth 49.5 billion, making a trade surplus of 8.17 billion.
