Those attending the ceremony included our Ambassador to Beijing, Alberto Bradanini; the Director of Changping District, Xu Junsheng; the owner of the Bei Zhou art centre, Chen Xiangguo; the head Italian curator, Sandro Orlandi; and the Chinese curator, artist and poet, Mian Bu.<\/P><br \/>\n<P>In his address, Bradanini thanked everyone involved for their \u201cefforts and hard work in preparing and launching the project\u201d. He pointed out that the Biennale \u201caims to act as an instrument to promote cultural collaboration by Italy and China, in a renewed artistic \u2018twinning\u2019 of our two countries\u201d. <\/P><br \/>\n<P>First large-scale contemporary art event by the two countries<\/P><br \/>\n<P>The Biennale is the first large-scale contemporary art event between Italy and China, with a new display model that gives each artist taking part their own independent 200 square metres of space.
