{"id":151507,"date":"2025-10-08T09:22:13","date_gmt":"2025-10-08T07:22:13","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.esteri.it\/sala_stampa\/archivionotizie\/\/2025\/10\/abu-dhabi-seminario-sul-cantico-delle-creature\/"},"modified":"2025-10-08T11:16:01","modified_gmt":"2025-10-08T09:16:01","slug":"abu-dhabi-seminario-sul-cantico-delle-creature","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.esteri.it\/en\/sala_stampa\/archivionotizie\/diplomazia-culturale\/2025\/10\/abu-dhabi-seminario-sul-cantico-delle-creature\/","title":{"rendered":"Abu Dhabi, seminar on the Canticle of the Creatures"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>On 26 September, under the patronage of the National Committee for the Celebration of the Eighth Centenary of the Death of Saint Francis of Assisi, a <strong>seminar<\/strong> was held in Abu Dhabi <strong>on the <em>Canticle of the Creatures<\/em><\/strong>, marking 800 years since its composition and in anticipation of the commemorations of the saint\u2019s passing on 4 October 1226.<\/p>\n<p>The event featured two internationally renowned scholars:\u00a0<strong>Father Stefano Luca<\/strong>, Apostolic Vicariate of Southern Arabia, delivered a lecture entitled \u201c<strong>The Spiritual Meaning of the Canticle of Brother Sun<\/strong>\u201d, offering a linguistic and literary, as well as spiritual and ecumenical, interpretation of the Canticle\u2019s verses. <strong>Professor Mahnaz Yousefzadeh<\/strong>, of New York University Abu Dhabi, in her presentation \u201c<strong>Art and Diplomatic Imagination: Saint Francis and the Florentine Encounter with the Islamic World<\/strong>\u201d, explored the historical significance of the saint\u2019s encounter with Sultan al-Malik al-Kamil of Egypt and its enduring influence on relations between the Christian and Islamic worlds. Poet and essayist <strong>Davide Rondoni<\/strong>, President of the National Committee for the Celebration of the Eighth Centenary of the Death of Saint Francis of Assisi, contributed a written reflection highlighting the enduring relevance of Saint Francis\u2019s life in today\u2019s world\u2014an inspiring and illuminating example that bridges past and present.<\/p>\n<p>The seminar opened with a live bilingual reading, in Italian and English, of the <em>Canticle of the Creatures<\/em> by <strong>Sophie Verschurr<\/strong>, accompanied on the violin by <strong>Maestro Antonio Cipriani.<\/strong><strong>\u00a0<\/strong>Introductory remarks were delivered by <strong>H.E.
