Vice\u00a0Minister Del Re participated,\u00a0in\u00a0VTC,\u00a0in\u00a0the 2nd High Level Meeting of the\u00a0Facilitation Council\u00a0of ACT – the\u00a0Access to COVID-19 Tools Accelerator –\u00a0convened by the Norwegian Development\u00a0Minister\u00a0and\u00a0the South African Health Minister. The aim of the meeting was to\u00a0provide an update on the state-of-the-art\u00a0of\u00a0the\u00a0diagnostics, treatment and vaccine,\u00a0and\u00a0of the relevant\u00a0access and\u00a0fair\u00a0distribution policies, as well as to\u00a0launch\u00a0the discussion on\u00a0the\u00a0urgent financial needs and possible further financing\u00a0procedures. Among the participants at the meeting were Stella\u00a0Kyriakides, EU\u00a0Commissioner for Health,\u00a0and\u00a0Tedros\u00a0Adhanom, Director General of WHO.\u00a0<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

Speaking at the final session,\u00a0Vice Minister Del Re illustrated the\u00a0agenda\u00a0of the Italian Presidency of the G20,\u00a0pointing out that it\u00a0will be fully committed to supporting the fundamental work of\u00a0the\u00a0ACT-Accelerator in the coming months and throughout 2021.\u00a0<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

“Italy was one of the very first countries to\u00a0call for\u00a0this multilateral and multidimensional response to the crisis. We must strengthen international cooperation and ensure universal and fair\u00a0access, support and delivery for all,\u00a0with\u00a0ad hoc\u00a0tools for the least developed, vulnerable and developing countries”\u00a0–\u00a0Ms.\u00a0Del Re\u00a0said.\u00a0<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

“The multidimensional response to the pandemic, from immediate action to sustainable recovery, will be the main framework of\u00a0Italy’s\u00a0G20 Presidency\u00a0agenda, which\u00a0we\u00a0will develop around 3 Pillars: People, Planet and Prosperity. In this context, global health will be at the top of our agenda, a key\u00a0topic for discussion by the\u00a0leaders, as well as\u00a0the\u00a0other relevant ministerial meetings”\u00a0–\u00a0she\u00a0added.\u00a0<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
