The production, born from a <strong>collaboration between the Italian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, the Teatro del Maggio Musicale Fiorentino and its Academy<\/strong>, is a journey through the history of <strong>Italian melodrama<\/strong> and a heartfelt tribute to the tradition of <strong>Italian opera<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cOpera, Amore \u2013 Metaopera in One Act\u201d retraces <strong>more than<\/strong> <strong>four centuries of Italian operatic heritage<\/strong>. The timeless operatic triangle \u2014 she, he, and the other \u2014 in which love between the first two is challenged by the third, unfolds through the masterpieces of <strong>Monteverdi<\/strong>, <strong>Pergolesi, Mozart, Paisiello, Cimarosa, Rossini, Bellini, Donizetti, Verdi, Mascagni,<\/strong> and <strong>Giordano<\/strong>, all the way to <strong>Puccini<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>The <strong>performance<\/strong> was directed by Francesco <strong>Micheli<\/strong>, with <strong>music<\/strong> by Federico <strong>Gon<\/strong>, <strong>libretto<\/strong> and <strong>dramaturgy<\/strong> by Alberto <strong>Mattioli<\/strong>, and <strong>set<\/strong> and <strong>costume<\/strong> <strong>design<\/strong> by Chiara <strong>Taiocchi<\/strong>.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"A resounding success for the performance \u201cOpera, Amore\u201d at the Giuseppe Verdi Auditorium of the Italian Cultural Institute of Addis Ababa.
