The 5th edition of “Dall\u2019Italiano al Mondo<\/em>” (From Italian to the World), \u00a0promoted by the Turin International Book Fair, is an initiative designed to support the translation of Italian literature abroad and promote networking among translators worldwide.<\/strong> The symposium aims to provide a compelling showcase of books to discover or rediscover, interesting books that risk going unnoticed amidst the publishing dynamics of business-as-usual.<\/p>\n

According to the AIE report presented at the Frankfurt Book Fair, Italian narrative literature has seen a 3%<\/strong> increase<\/strong> despite the general market decline. Ilide Carmignani, curator of the DIAM symposium, said: “In a challenging context, it is encouraging to see how Italian narrative literature is attracting increasing interest both in our country and abroad. Translations of Italian books increased by 8% in 2024<\/strong>, partly due to Italy’s presence as guest of honour in the Frankfurt Book Fair, Italy’s second-best performance since 2019. With this 5th online conference, as Turin Book Fair, we want to continue strengthening the system for spreading Italian books around the world<\/strong>, sparking curiosity and fostering discovery, creating networks between translators and bridges between publishing houses and cultures, to enable our authors to reach even the most distant readers.<\/strong><\/p>\n

The Turin International Book Fair has always championed the important role of translators, both culturally and editorially. The Book Fair is credited with being the first cultural enterprise in Europe<\/strong> to have created, in 2001, a series of professional events focused on the valuable work of those who provide Italian readers with access to world literature, namely the \u201cAutore invisibile<\/em><\/strong>\u201d (The Invisible Author). Curated by Ilide Carmignani, this section of the programme celebrated its 25th anniversary in 2025 and is considered a true cult event for translators and publishing professionals in general.<\/p>\n

The annual conference \u201cDall’Italiano al Mondo<\/em><\/strong>\u201d focuses on the other side of the market, providing participants -primarily translators from Italian into all other world languages- with the opportunity to discover a fascinating showcase of books titles, participate in specialized workshops<\/strong>, and engage in a dialogue with publishers, agents<\/strong>, journalists, and Italian writers<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

The 2025 edition of the conference sees the participation of Annalena Benini, Davide Brullo, and Franco Buffoni, Ilide Carmignani, Stefano Dal Bianco, Lorenza Honorati, Roberta Fabbri, Tito Faraci, Mariangela Gualtieri, Vincenzo Latronico, Ilaria Marinelli, Eros Miari; Francesca Novajra, Dario Pappalardo, Laura Pugno, Lara Ricci, Luisa Rovetta, Martina Russo, Vanni Santoni, Francesca Sforza, Marino Sinibaldi, Silvana Sola, Alessandra Tedesco, Nadia Terranova.<\/p>\n

The online conference is sponsored by CEATL (European Council of Literary Translators) and PETRA-E (European Literary Platform). The conference is free <\/u>and open to all Italian-speaking translators<\/u>, and the working language is Italian.
