From 27 to 30 October, the programme \u201cMuseum Accessibility as Shared Culture and Collective Practice\u201d took place in Belgrade \u2013 an exchange and training initiative for museum professionals promoted by the Embassy of Italy, in collaboration with the Italian Cultural Institute and the Italian Trade Agency and organised by the MAXXI Foundation \u2013 National Museum of 21st Century Arts in Rome.<\/p>\n
Over four days, thirty Serbian museum curators met at the Italian Cultural Institute to explore the themes of accessibility, inclusion and participatory design, through theoretical sessions and practical workshops led by a team of Italian professionals coordinated by the MAXXI Foundation. During the seminar, the Italian Trade Agency presented an overview of Made in Italy technologies for museums, ranging from advanced display cases and lighting design to solutions for digitalisation and visitor interaction.<\/p>\n
Maria Emanuela Bruni, President of the MAXXI Foundation, stated: \u201cMaking the MAXXI\u2019s expertise and know-how available to professionals abroad means strengthening and renewing the Museum\u2019s commitment to fostering international dialogue among cultures, languages and people.\u00a0 Accessibility and training are key pillars for the Museum and essential values guiding my presidency\u201d.<\/p>\n
Ambassador of Italy to Serbia, Luca Gori, remarked: \u201cFollowing the opening of the Galleria Borghese exhibition at the Belgrade City Museum and the Italian translation of the catalogue for the new collection of the Museum of Contemporary Art in Belgrade, we are pleased to further enrich the dialogue between Italian and Serbian museums through this new initiative devoted to the important theme of accessibility. Looking ahead to EXPO Belgrade 2027, we aim to work closely with Serbian museums to build networks of cultural institutions that embrace inclusion as a shared value in cultural design and engagement\u201d.<\/p>\n
