Begin Text:<\/em><\/p>\n Egypt,\u00a0France, Germany, Italy,\u00a0Qatar,\u00a0Saudi Arabia,\u00a0T\u00fcrkiye, the United Arab Emirates,\u00a0the United Kingdom, and the United States of America\u00a0reaffirm\u00a0our\u00a0commitment to supporting\u00a0the Libyan people\u2019s\u00a0pursuit of\u00a0unity, stability, and prosperity\u00a0\u2013 and their aspirations to\u00a0achieve\u00a0lasting peace.<\/p>\n We welcome the Security Council\u2019s decision to extend the mandate of the United Nations Support Mission in Libya (UNSMIL) and the roadmap developed by UN SRSG Hanna Tetteh, and urge all Libyan stakeholders to use this roadmap and UNSMIL facilitation to advance a Libyan-led political process toward unified governance and elections.<\/p>\n We also affirm our commitment to\u00a0support increased military and economic coordination between western and eastern Libyan stakeholders. \u00a0We welcome Libyan efforts to integrate Libya\u2019s security forces and urge Libyan leaders to take further steps to expand and institutionalize east-west military coordination and unification.<\/p>\n We also urge steps to strengthen Libyan economic institutions, notably the National Oil Corporation (NOC), Central Bank of Libya (CBL), and Audit Bureau. \u00a0In this respect, we commend the appointment of an official chairman of the National Oil Corporation (NOC) via a decree issued on September 29 and the Unified Development Program Agreement signed by representatives of the House of Representatives and High State Council on\u00a0November 18. \u00a0These steps have the potential to set Libya on a path toward more sustainable economic policy and greater prosperity, laying the groundwork for successful implementation of the NOC\u2019s program to boost energy production and economic growth, bolstering the CBL and Libya\u2019s financial stability, and providing for development projects throughout the country with a mutually agreed oversight framework.<\/p>\n Increased economic and security integration is essential to ensuring Libya\u2019s sovereignty, security, and long-term prosperity and will complement and strengthen the political process. \u00a0A strong and prosperous Libya with unified economic, military, and political institutions is in\u00a0all of\u00a0our interests.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"The text of the following statement was released by the Governments of the United States of America,\u00a0Egypt, France, Germany, Italy, Qatar,\u00a0Saudi Arabia,\u00a0T\u00fcrkiye, the United Arab Emirates,\u00a0and\u00a0the United Kingdom.
