His visit will underscore the Italian government\u2019s interest in Iran after the election of the new President. Another aim is to encourage the new Iranian administration to take concrete steps to open a new era of dialogue with the international community. <\/P><br \/>\n<P><A name=_GoBack><\/A><\/P><br \/>\n<P>Pistelli\u2019s visit will also be an opportunity to recall the historic ties linking the two peoples and to resume the bilateral dialogue on issues such as the stabilisation of Afghanistan and combating drug trafficking. It will also be an occasion to invite the Iranian authorities to behave responsibly with respect to the numerous regional questions in which they are involved.
