{"id":179947,"date":"2026-03-16T17:08:25","date_gmt":"2026-03-16T16:08:25","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.esteri.it\/sala_stampa\/archivionotizie\/\/2026\/03\/tajani-a-trieste-per-il-trentennale-del-segretariato-ince-e-per-il-forum-imec\/"},"modified":"2026-03-19T09:02:11","modified_gmt":"2026-03-19T08:02:11","slug":"tajani-a-trieste-per-il-trentennale-del-segretariato-ince-e-per-il-forum-imec","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.esteri.it\/en\/sala_stampa\/archivionotizie\/comunicati\/2026\/03\/tajani-a-trieste-per-il-trentennale-del-segretariato-ince-e-per-il-forum-imec\/","title":{"rendered":"Tajani in Trieste for the 30th Anniversary of the CEI Secretariat and the IMEC Forum"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Foreign Minister Antonio Tajani was in Trieste to participate in the Conference marking the 30th Anniversary of the Executive Secretariat of the Central European Initiative (CEI) and the India-Middle East-Europe Corridor (IMEC) Forum.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"YouTube video player\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube-nocookie.com\/embed\/6D8t0iWbTuA?si=QVtYfX-iGdrOhjqJ\" width=\"560\" height=\"315\" frameborder=\"0\" allowfullscreen=\"allowfullscreen\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>The 30th Anniversary Conference was organized by the CEI Secretariat, together with Italy and Romania, which holds the Presidency for 2026, in collaboration with the<em>\u00a0Istituto Affari Internazionali.<\/em><\/p>\n<p>It focused on the significance and prospects of this regional forum \u2013 created on an Italian initiative and currently comprising 17 Member States \u2013 and on the CEI\u2019s contribution to the challenges associated with the uncertain European geopolitical situation, ranging from EU enlargement to the Western Balkans, Ukraine, and Moldova, to support for Ukraine, and to the development of connectivity in the region.<\/p>\n<p>The issues of connectivity and the redefinition of trade routes to attract investment and develop industrial flows linked to global value chains were also central to the works of the Forum \u201cIMEC, Indo-Mediterranean Corridor: Opportunities for Business.\u201d Within this framework, the Northern Adriatic and the Balkans region are particularly important as geographic and infrastructural bridges between the Mediterranean and Central Europe.<\/p>\n<p>The goal is to connect three of the world\u2019s most dynamic economic regions and promote the potential reorganization of logistics and industrial chains between India, the Gulf, and Europe. Due to its history, geographic location, and infrastructural connections, Trieste is one of the most natural hubs of this network.<\/p>\n<p>The IMEC has the potential to generate trade flows between India, the Middle East, and Europe worth \u20ac172 billion\u2014of which \u20ac26 billion for Italy\u2014strengthening the Mediterranean\u2019s role as a strategic area for trade, energy, and digital connectivity.<\/p>\n<p>The two events in Trieste were attended by Ministers, representatives from regional international organizations and civil society, as well as entrepreneurs, and members of Parliament. The Forum dedicated to the IMEC Corridor was attended by over 300 delegates from Italian and international companies operating in the sectors of logistics, physical, energy, and digital infrastructure, manufacturing, and connectivity technologies.
