Regional accords, banking supervision and common European defence <\/STRONG><\/P> European economic growth can also be stimulated through \u201cregional accords\u201d to which Italy and Holland can contribute, while on the governance front, the creation of a \u201csingle banking supervision mechanism\u201d is \u201curgent\u201d. Italy and Holland, Terzi added, also agree on the need for a \u201cEuropean defence that supplements and converges with Atlantic security\u201d.<\/P> Timmermans underscored how, in order to create a \u201cEuropean construction\u201d that responds to citizens\u2019, needs it was going to be necessary to work on \u201cgreater north\/south cooperation\u201d, and in that sense \u201cfounder nations such as Italy and Holland are in a position to trigger a European dynamism that will be appreciated by their citizens\u201d. Joint initiatives could be developed in Brussels, he added. <\/P> The Syrian crisis<\/STRONG><\/P> <\/STRONG><\/P> Discussions also centred on principle international situations such as the Syrian crisis, the solution to which, Terzi stressed, \u201ccannot be but political\u201d. The minister pointed out that \u201cthe military evolution is certainly not in favour of regime forces but could also take a long time to achieve solutions, so the task surely falls to diplomacy and the dialogue set up between Washington, Moscow and the UN and Arab League Envoy is important\u201d.
