As in the previous editions held in Paris and London, the objective of the conference is to mobilise funding in support of the humanitarian response in Sudan. United Nations agencies, regional and international organisations, local and international NGOs, as well as representatives of civil society, will also be in attendance.

Since 2023, Italy has mobilised over EUR 33 million for emergency interventions: EUR 18.5 million in support of international organisations operating on the ground (International Committee of the Red Cross, International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies, UNHCR, World Health Organization and Food and Agriculture Organization), and EUR 14.65 million for bilateral projects implemented by Italian NGOs. Sudan is a priority country for Italian Development Cooperation, with interventions focused on access to basic healthcare, poverty reduction, economic development, social protection, human rights, environmental protection and food security. The overall portfolio for the Sudan crisis currently amounts to approximately EUR 142 million, with an additional EUR 7 million managed by the Addis Ababa office of the Italian Agency for Development Cooperation for health-related projects.

Since November last year, Minister Tajani has also launched the “Italy for Sudan” initiative, modelled on Food for Gaza, involving the entire “Sistema Paese” and structured around three main pillars: life-saving assistance for displaced populations; support to refugees, host communities and receiving countries; and the facilitation of voluntary returns in safe conditions. In 2026, under this initiative, 132 tonnes of humanitarian goods—both food and non-food items—have been allocated, together with two financial contributions: EUR 5 million to the Food and Agriculture Organization for agricultural resilience projects and EUR 1 million to the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies for water access, shelter and medical assistance.

Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation Antonio Tajani is participating today in Berlin in the Third Humanitarian Conference on Sudan, marking the third anniversary of the outbreak of the civil war, which has given rise to the world’s largest humanitarian crisis, with approximately 15 million displaced persons, nearly 5 million of whom have sought […]
[1
31,29,28
post-183282","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","hentry","category-comunicati","tag-africa","tag-cooperazione-sviluppo","tag-ministro
["GET
