The governments of Italy, Egypt, France, Germany, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, Turkey, the United Arab Emirates, the United Kingdom and the United States of America have adopted a joint statement regarding the signing, on April 11, of a unified 2026 budget for Libya. It is the first Libyan national budget in over a decade and a crucial step towards strengthening economic coordination between the leaders of Western and Eastern Libya. The agreement has the potential to foster greater unity, stability and prosperity for Libya.<\/p>\n
The full implementation of the unified budget will help promote Libya\u2019s financial stability; enable the implementation of development projects and international investment across the country; and strengthen Libya\u2019s key technical and administrative institutions, including the Central Bank of Libya, National Oil Corporation and Libyan Audit Bureau.<\/p>\n
The signatory countries also reaffirm their support for the United Nations Support Mission in Libya (UNSMIL) and the Roadmap drawn up by the Special Representative of the UN Secretary-General, Hanna Tetteh, to advance a Libyan-led political process leading to unified governance and national elections.<\/p>\n
