Serbia hosts 500 firms with Italian participation and provides jobs for 20,000 workers in sectors such as banking, textiles and auto manufacturing.<\/P><br \/>\n<P><STRONG>Serbia is Italy\u2019s best friend in the Balkans<\/STRONG><\/P><br \/>\n<P>\u201cSerbia is Italy\u2019s best friend in the Balkans\u201d, Dacic pointed out, recalling that there were still \u201cmany opportunities for Italian firms to grow\u201d. On the bilateral cooperation front the Serbian premier singled out an energy accord, on which \u201cthere are no difficulties\u201d and that should be ratified \u201cvery soon\u201d, for a \u201clarge volume\u201d project. Dacic also announced to Terzi that Serbia was the 109th country to sign up to participate in the 2015 Milan Expo.<\/P><br \/>\n<P>The talks also turned to Serbia\u2019s bid for EU membership, which Italy has encouraged since Belgrade was granted candidate status in March. \u201cWe believe in this country\u2019s European future and in that of an increasingly integrated Balkans region\u201d, Terzi explained, also expressing his appreciation for the resumption of dialogue between Belgrade and Pristina that had created a \u201cfavourable climate\u201d. Italy, the minister added, \u201cwishes to continue to play an active role in encouraging the parties concerned to pursue the path undertaken toward European integration\u201d. <\/P><br \/>\n<P><STRONG>\u201cSerbia intends to resolve open issues with Pristina\u201d<\/STRONG><\/P><br \/>\n<P>On the question of Kosovo, Dacic assured that Serbia \u201cintends to resolve all the open issues with Pristina, not only technical ones, but we expect the same constructive approach from the other side\u201d. Belgrade hopes to \u201center the EU quickly and to fulfill all the criteria imposed\u201d by Brussels\u201d.
