{"id":187731,"date":"2026-05-12T17:59:47","date_gmt":"2026-05-12T15:59:47","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.esteri.it\/sala_stampa\/archivionotizie\/\/2026\/05\/turismo-delle-radici-il-ministro-tajani-alla-firma-delle-convenzioni-degli-enti-attuatori\/"},"modified":"2026-05-13T11:09:58","modified_gmt":"2026-05-13T09:09:58","slug":"turismo-delle-radici-il-ministro-tajani-alla-firma-delle-convenzioni-degli-enti-attuatori","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.esteri.it\/en\/sala_stampa\/archivionotizie\/comunicati\/2026\/05\/turismo-delle-radici-il-ministro-tajani-alla-firma-delle-convenzioni-degli-enti-attuatori\/","title":{"rendered":"Tourism of Roots: Minister Tajani at the signing of agreements with implementing bodies"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The Minister of Foreign Affairs, Antonio Tajani, will take part in the ceremony for the signing of agreements relating to projects under the \u201cTourism of Roots\u201d initiative, financed through the Development and Cohesion Fund.<\/p>\n<p>Since 2022, the Italian Foreign Ministry has served as the implementing administration for the NRRP measure \u201cTourism of Roots \u2013 An integrated strategy for the recovery of the tourism sector in post-Covid-19 Italy\u201d, aimed at strengthening ties between approximately 80 million Italians living abroad, people of Italian descent and those of Italian origin, and their territories of origin, while also promoting sustainable tourism in small towns and rural areas. For the first time, the Italian Foreign Ministry has also secured an allocation of EUR 200 million under the 2021\u20132027 Development and Cohesion Fund (FSC), to be used for projects aimed at the redevelopment and enhancement of tourist sites and routes, historic towns, natural reserves and sports facilities in Southern and Central Italy.<\/p>\n<p>Following the signing of the Cohesion Agreement last October, and the recent completion of the process for the allocation of the relevant financial resources, the Italian Foreign Ministry is now preparing to conclude agreements with the implementing bodies responsible for delivering the projects.<\/p>\n<p>Planned initiatives include: the urban regeneration of the canal port and the enhancement of the Borgo dei Bonificatori in the Municipality of Fiumicino, with funding of EUR 20 million; projects by the Monti Ausoni and Lago di Fondi Regional Natural Park Authority, also allocated EUR 20 million, covering renewable energy and energy communities, environmental protection, cycling routes around Lago di Canterno, inclusive sports facilities and the promotion of tourism at Lago di Fondi and Canterno; Sport e Salute, with EUR 20 million for the upgrading and energy efficiency of the \u201cCentrale del Tennis\u201d in Rome; and the Province of Avellino, with EUR 70 million for the enhancement of historic villages, the \u201cCammino di Guglielmo\u201d, railway stations and junctions in Avellino, and for the conversion of the Avellino\u2013Rocchetta Sant\u2019Antonio line into a tourist cycle railway featuring hubs, local routes and sustainable mobility.<\/p>\n<p>Also speaking at the ceremony will be Professor Carmine De Angelis, Adviser to the Vice Presidency of the Council of Ministers for Local Authorities and European Programmes, and Raffaele Squitieri, Chair of the Monitoring and Evaluation Committee.
