Le ministre des Affaires \u00e9trang\u00e8res Antonio Tajani a visit\u00e9 le tunnel du Mont-Blanc et s\u2019est rendu \u00e0 Bard (Vall\u00e9e d\u2019Aoste) pour la troisi\u00e8me r\u00e9union du Comit\u00e9 de Coop\u00e9ration Frontali\u00e8re Italie\u2013France, qu\u2019il a copr\u00e9sid\u00e9e avec le ministre fran\u00e7ais des Affaires \u00e9trang\u00e8res Jean-No\u00ebl Barrot.<\/p>\n

Le Comit\u00e9 a r\u00e9uni des administrations locales, des parlementaires ainsi que d\u2019autres organismes et soci\u00e9t\u00e9s op\u00e9rant \u00e0 la fronti\u00e8re entre l\u2019Italie et la France, dans le but de renforcer les relations transfrontali\u00e8res et de discuter de sujets concrets d\u2019int\u00e9r\u00eat commun, tels que la mobilit\u00e9 et les connexions transalpines, la gestion du climat et des ressources en eau, la formation des jeunes et les initiatives en faveur du bilinguisme.<\/p>\n

Dans ce contexte, l\u2019objectif de la modernisation des points de passage rev\u00eat une importance particuli\u00e8re, notamment celui du tunnel du Mont-Blanc, que le ministre Tajani a visit\u00e9 dans la matin\u00e9e du 4 juin.<\/p>\n

\u00c0 l\u2019occasion du Comit\u00e9, le chef de la Farnesina a eu un entretien bilat\u00e9ral avec le ministre Barrot, au cours duquel ils ont discut\u00e9 des sujets bilat\u00e9raux en vue du prochain sommet Italie\u2013France, notamment la coop\u00e9ration \u00e9conomique. La France est le troisi\u00e8me march\u00e9 de destination des exportations italiennes, avec un \u00e9change commercial en hausse de 6 % en 2025. L\u2019ordre du jour comprenait \u00e9galement les principales questions europ\u00e9ennes, r\u00e9gionales et internationales.<\/p>\n

Tajani et Barrot ont \u00e9galement discut\u00e9 du Moyen-Orient. Le ministre Tajani a r\u00e9affirm\u00e9 le soutien ferme de l\u2019Italie aux institutions, \u00e0 la population civile et aux forces arm\u00e9es libanaises, ainsi que la n\u00e9cessit\u00e9 de travailler \u00e0 un cadre post-FINUL afin d\u2019\u00e9viter tout vide s\u00e9curitaire apr\u00e8s le retrait de la mission.<\/p>\n

Parmi les sujets abord\u00e9s figurent \u00e9galement Gaza et la condamnation des violences commises par des colons extr\u00e9mistes, ainsi que la demande italienne \u2013 soutenue \u00e9galement par la France \u2013 d\u2019envisager des sanctions europ\u00e9ennes \u00e0 l\u2019encontre du ministre isra\u00e9lien Ben-Gvir. Les deux ministres ont \u00e9chang\u00e9 enfin sur le d\u00e9troit d\u2019Ormuz et sur les propositions en discussion visant \u00e0 r\u00e9tablir la libert\u00e9 et la s\u00e9curit\u00e9 de la navigation dans le d\u00e9troit.<\/p>\n

\u00c0 l\u2019issue des travaux du Comit\u00e9, les ministres Tajani et Barrot ont tenu une conf\u00e9rence de presse conjointe.<\/p>\n

Minister of Foreign Affairs Antonio Tajani visited the Mont Blanc Tunnel site and traveled to Bard (Aosta Valley) for the third meeting of the Italy\u2013France Cross-Border Cooperation Committee, which he co-chaired together with French Minister of Foreign Affairs Jean-No\u00ebl Barrot.<\/p>\n

The Committee brought together local authorities, members of parliament and other bodies and organisations operating along the Italy\u2013France border, with the aim of strengthening cross-border relations and discussing practical issues of mutual interest, such as mobility and transalpine connections, climate and water resource management, youth training and initiatives in support of bilingualism.<\/p>\n

In this context, particular importance is attached to the modernisation of border crossings, and in particular the Mont Blanc Tunnel site, which Minister Tajani visited in the morning of June 4.<\/p>\n

On the occasion of the Committee meeting, the Minister held a bilateral meeting with his French counterpart, Minister Barrot, during which they discussed bilateral issues ahead of the forthcoming Italy\u2013France Summit, with particular focus on economic cooperation. France is Italy\u2019s third-largest export market, with bilateral trade increasing by 6% in 2025. The agenda also included key European, regional and international issues.<\/p>\n

Tajani and Barrot also discussed the Middle East. Minister Tajani reiterated Italy\u2019s strong support for Lebanon\u2019s institutions, the civilian population and the Lebanese Armed Forces, stressing the need to work towards a post-UNIFIL framework in order to avoid security vacuums following the withdrawal of the mission.<\/p>\n

Other topics included Gaza and the condemnation of violence by extremist settlers, as well as Italy\u2019s request \u2013 supported also by France \u2013 to consider EU sanctions against Israeli Minister Ben-Gvir. The two Ministers also discussed the Strait of Hormuz and proposals under discussion to restore freedom and security of navigation in the Strait.<\/p>\n
