During the meeting, an update was provided on the security situation in various countries in the region, with particular attention to the situation of Italian nationals and consular assistance activities. Minister Tajani asked the Embassies and Consulates, in coordination with the Foreign Ministry\u2019s Crisis Unit, to maintain the highest level of vigilance and continue to constantly monitor the evolution of the situation, ensuring full assistance to Italian citizens in the region.<\/p>\n
Minister Tajani expressed his deep concern about the escalating tensions in the Middle East, reaffirming the need to work to avoid further escalations and to promote an immediate return to dialogue. Participants in the meeting discussed the growing instability in several areas of the region, characterized by ongoing missile and drone attacks, episodes of violence along the Israeli-Lebanese border, recent attacks on some Gulf partner countries, and the risk of a resurgence of terrorist activity. Attention was also drawn to the potential impact of these developments on regional security and the main international maritime routes.<\/p>\n
The Minister was also updated on the situation of the two Italian citizens detained in Benghazi, eastern Libya.
