On April 21-22, 2027, Rome will host the first GITEX AI Mediterranean\/Italy,<\/strong> a new event dedicated to technological innovation and artificial intelligence that will bring to Italy one of the leading international platforms for startups, companies, investors, and institutions. The project is part of the Foreign Ministry’s broader commitment to strengthening Italy’s international positioning in technology-intensive sectors.<\/p>\n

The initiative was presented on June 4 in the Sala degli Arazzi<\/em> of the Ministry of Business and Made in Italy (MIMIT), on the occasion of the signing of the agreement<\/strong> between InD EVENTS, organizer of the GITEX network, and Lazio Innova<\/em>. The presentation was attended by representatives of the institutional and organizational partners of the event, including Federico Eichberg<\/strong>, Head of Cabinet at MIMIT<\/strong>; Mauro Battocchi<\/strong>, Director General for Growth and Export Promotion at the Italian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation<\/strong>; Silvia Chiave<\/strong>, Diplomatic Advisor to the Lazio Region<\/strong>; Francesco Marcolini<\/strong>, President of Lazio Innova<\/em><\/strong>; and Trixie LohMirmand<\/strong>, CEO of GITEX.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Created over forty years ago in Dubai, the GITEX platform<\/strong> is now one of the leading international networks dedicated to technology, startups, investment, and innovation<\/strong>, with events organized in many markets across Europe, the Middle East, Africa, and Asia. The organisation of GITEX AI Mediterranean\/Italy marks the event’s arrival in Italy for the first time<\/strong> and identifies the Mediterranean as one of the areas with the greatest potential for technological and digital growth.<\/p>\n

GITEX AI Mediterranean\/Italy<\/strong><\/a> will bring together in Rome companies, startups, scaleups, investors, research centres<\/strong>, public policymakers, and institutional representatives from over 120 countries, focusing on the key sectors of technological transformation<\/strong>: artificial intelligence, cybersecurity, quantum technologies, digital infrastructure, advanced mobility, smart manufacturing, energy, life sciences, and dual-use technologies.<\/p>\n

The event aims to strengthen Italy’s role as a hub connecting Europe, the Mediterranean, the Middle East, and Africa, as well as enhance national expertise in technology-intensive sectors, and create new opportunities for international collaboration, investment attraction, and growth for startups and innovative businesses.<\/p>\n

Speaking at the event’s presentation, Mauro Battocchi, Director General for Growth and Export Promotion<\/strong> at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation (MAECI), emphasized that the first GITEX in Italy is a significant opportunity to strengthen the country\u2019s international profile as a “Tech Nation.”<\/strong> He emphasized that the initiative helps position Italy as a national, European, and Mediterranean hub for technological innovation, fostering international connections<\/strong>, strategic investment, and new growth opportunities for startups, businesses, and institutions, in line with the internationalization strategies <\/strong>promoted by the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, Antonio Tajani. <\/strong><\/p>\n
