As part of the Conference of Italian Consuls worldwide, new initiatives were presented aimed at strengthening the provision of services that are increasingly effective and tailored to the needs of Italian citizens abroad.<\/p>\n
The Minister of Foreign Affairs, Antonio Tajani, and the President of ITA Airways, Sandro Pappalardo, have signed the agreement between the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation (MAECI) and ITA Airways concerning the \u201cTurismo delle Radici\u201d (Roots Tourism) project, which aims to encourage Italians and people of Italian descent living abroad to return to their regions of origin, as well as to facilitate trade missions, through specific incentives.<\/p>\n
Tajani has also announced that the new \u201cCitizens\u2019 Services Hall\u201d, on which work has now been completed, is open from today. The Hall is a state-of-the-art facility designed to provide consular services and assistance to Italian nationals in difficulty abroad, with the aim of responding ever more effectively to the growing demand for services and strengthening coordination with the consular network abroad.<\/p>\n
Poste Italiane has also produced a special postmark for the 2026 Consuls\u2019 Conference. The ceremony was attended by Minister Tajani, Minister Piantedosi and the Chief Executive Officer of Poste Italiane, Matteo Del Fante.<\/p>\n
During the course of the day, Minister Tajani paid tribute to Sergeant Mohamed Mahudhee, a diver of the Maldives National Defence Force, who died whilst searching for the bodies of five of his compatriots who perished during a dive on 14 May. The Minister of Foreign Affairs reiterated his commitment to recognising civic courage and to launching a fundraising campaign for the Sergeant\u2019s family.<\/p>\n
