{"id":1967,"date":"2020-07-09T09:52:43","date_gmt":"2020-07-09T07:52:43","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.esteri.it\/sala_stampa\/archivionotizie\/comunicati\/2020\/07\/libia-di-maio-in-consiglio-di-sicurezza-onu-2\/"},"modified":"2020-07-09T09:52:43","modified_gmt":"2020-07-09T07:52:43","slug":"libia-di-maio-in-consiglio-di-sicurezza-onu","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.esteri.it\/en\/sala_stampa\/archivionotizie\/comunicati\/2020\/07\/libia-di-maio-in-consiglio-di-sicurezza-onu\/","title":{"rendered":"Libya: Mr Di Maio in UN Security Council"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Foreign Minister Luigi Di Maio participated yesterday afternoon in the United Nations Security Council Session on Libya in videoconference, organised by the German Presidency, in a format extended to all the countries participating in the Berlin Conference.<\/p>\n<p>The meeting, which was chaired by German Foreign Minister Heiko Maas and was attended by UN Secretary General Antonio Guterres, was a fruitful occasion to confirm the International Community&#8217;s support for the United Nations&#8217; efforts to achieve a cessation of hostilities and promote peace and security in Libya.<\/p>\n<p>Minister Di Maio reaffirmed Italy&#8217;s strong support for the Berlin Process along four priority lines of action: an end to all external interference in violation of the UN embargo; the achievement of an agreement on the effective ceasefire; the revitalization without further delay of the political dialogue in favour of a fully inclusive solution; and the timely resumption of oil production.<\/p>\n<p>With a view to reinvigorating the UN&#8217;s mediating action in the country, Minister Di Maio finally underlined the urgency of appointing a new UN Special Representative for Libya as soon as possible.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"Foreign Minister Luigi Di Maio participated yesterday afternoon in the United Nations Security Council Session on Libya in videoconference, organised by the German Presidency, in a format extended to all the countries participating in the Berlin Conference.
