Italy and Poland have a \u201cstrong unity of views\u201d on various European problems, announced President of the Republic Giorgio Napolitano, on a two-day visit to Poland, at the end of a meeting with Polish head of state Bronis\u0142aw Komorowski. According to Napolitano, who was accompanied by Minister Giulio Terzi, Poland plays an increasingly important role in promoting the idea of European integration, for example in the area of security. Italy, Napolitano underscored, \u201cis closely watching Ukraine\u2019s progress\u201d towards the EU, and supports the signing of an association agreement between Kiev and the Union.<\/P>

Ukraine<\/STRONG> in the EU<\/STRONG><\/P> Poland is well-known for the active part it is playing in bringing Ukraine closer the EU, and Napolitano praised \u201cthe farsighted and balanced vision\u201d that the Warsaw government is bringing to its relations with that country. Earlier President Komorowski, after underscoring that bilateral relations with Italy \u201care strengthening at every level\u201d, he confirmed \u201cthe major commitment\u201d that Poland has to helping Ukraine initiate a process of European integration.
