She met with President of the Republic Santos, Vice-President Garzon, Minister for Industry, Trade and Tourism Diaz Granados and Mayor of Bogot\u00e0 Petro, and co-chaired the fourth session of bilateral policy consultations with Colombian Deputy Foreign Minister Lanzetta. Talks centred on strengthening cooperation in a range of sectors \u2013 regional integration, multilateral diplomacy (UN, G20), counter-drug trafficking \u2013 but especially on deepening bilateral economic relations.<\/P><br \/>\n<P><STRONG>5.9% growth, a population of 50 million <\/STRONG><\/P><br \/>\n<P>With a growth rate of 5.9%, a population of almost 50 million and a legal\/regulatory framework that encourages foreign investment, Colombia offers attractive business opportunities to many Italian firms, which indeed have note hesitated to set up shop in a country that only a few years ago was synonymous with political violence. Participants in the mission included representatives of major Italian infrastructure firms \u2013 Columbia has launched a development plan equal to 3% of GDP \u2013 as well as SMEs. <\/P><br \/>\n<P>This visit follows only two weeks on from Dass\u00f9\u2019s mission to Brazil at the head of a large business delegation, bearing witness to the continuity with which the Italian government is advancing efforts at an economic diplomacy aimed at strengthening and broadening our business\u2019s access to emerging economies.<\/P><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"Under-Secretary Marta Dass\u00f9 completed a mission to Bogot\u00e0 from 3 to 5 June accompanied by a business delegation made up of representatives of over 50 firms.
