Today, Italy takes over the rotating Presidency of the Tallinn Mechanism, which it will hold until December 2026.
\nThe Tallinn Mechanism is the main multilateral platform for coordinating civilian cyber support to Ukraine. Through initiatives supported by the 14 Member States, the Mechanism aims to strengthen the resilience and protection of Ukraine\u2019s digital infrastructure.<\/p>\n
\u201cSupporting Ukraine\u2019s cyber security and resilience is a priority of Italian foreign policy. It was with this commitment that Italy joined the Tallinn Mechanism in 2024 and, since then, has allocated specific funds for projects on the ground,\u201d said Minister of Foreign Affairs Antonio Tajani.<\/p>\n
The Italian Presidency reaffirms our country\u2019s commitment to international cybersecurity, the stability of cyberspace and support for Ukraine facing the consequences of Russia\u2019s aggression. In this context, strengthening Ukraine\u2019s civilian cyber capabilities contributes to collective national and European security.<\/p>\n
During its Presidency, Italy intends to contribute to the consolidation of the Mechanism by promoting more effective management of the projects identified by the Ukrainian authorities and, at the same time, encouraging the involvement of the private sector in their implementation.
\nParticular attention will be paid to the possible inclusion of further countries in the Mechanism and to the coordination of the administrations of the Member States concerned. Furthermore, as part of Italy\u2019s contributions to digital security in the Ternopil and Odessa regions, Italy intends to promote projects aimed at strengthening cyber capabilities for the benefit of regional and local authorities, which are particularly vulnerable to malicious cyber activities.<\/p>\n
