Tajani: strengthening the Alliance\u2019s relations with the Gulf States is of strategic importance"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>On the occasion of the NATO Summit in Ankara, Foreign Minister Antonio Tajani took part in a meeting of NATO Foreign Ministers with the partner countries of the Istanbul Cooperation Initiative (ICI) \u2013 Bahrain, the United Arab Emirates, Kuwait and Qatar \u2013 a meeting strongly advocated by Italy. The agenda for the meeting included a discussion on developments in the Gulf and the regional security scenario, as well as on opportunities to strengthen partnerships between NATO and countries in the region.<\/p>\n<p>While recalling the need to refocus attention on the Alliance\u2019s Southern Flank, Minister Tajani confirmed that Italy is promoting more strategic cooperation with its Gulf partners at all levels, ranging from maritime security to critical raw materials and strategic corridors such as IMEC, as also discussed during his meeting on Monday with the Secretary-General of the Gulf Cooperation Council.<\/p>\n<p>In this context, the Foreign Minister highlighted the importance of the NATO-ICI Regional Centre in Kuwait, calling for its strengthening.
