These topics were the focus of a conference hosted in Florence in early May by the Social Sciences research hub. <\/P><br \/>\n<P>The event saw 4 days of interactive workshops, meetings, lectures, exhibitions and round tables, with the participation of over 80 Italian and foreign speakers. It was organised by the \u201cWe Next\u201d Cultural Association, with the patronage of Tuscany Region and the Province, Municipality and University of Florence. Support was provided by the Tuscan branches of Confindustria (the employers\u2019 organisation), the CNA (the artisans and small business organisation), the \u201cTuscany System\u201d<A name=_GoBack><\/A> Foundation and the European Commission. <\/P><br \/>\n<P><STRONG>The <\/STRONG><STRONG>internationalisation of the Italian economic system<\/STRONG><\/P><br \/>\n<P>Counsellor Vincenzo Ercole Salazar Sarsfield, Head of Office I of the Directorate General for Country Promotion, spoke at the workshop, moderated by Prof. Bagnato, on Italy\u2019s foreign policy on the emerging countries. He illustrated the role of Italian economic diplomacy with respect to the BRICS and TIMBI countries and the Foreign Ministry\u2019s strategic lines in support of the internationalisation of the Italian economic system.
