The closing ceremony and graduation ceremony for the \u2018Diplomacy for Development\u2019 training programme took place today at the Farnesina. The programme was organised by the International Training Centre of the International Labour Organisation (ITC-ILO) in Turin, in collaboration with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs: the programme\u2019s participants were 25 Palestinian diplomats serving in Ramallah and at overseas missions.<\/p>\n
From 13 to 24 July, the 25 Palestinian diplomats undertook a training programme split between Turin and Rome, aimed at strengthening their skills in economic diplomacy, negotiation, mediation, communication and international cooperation. The programme also included in-depth sessions on the workings of European and multilateral institutions and on international law, accompanied by meetings with Italian and international institutional representatives.<\/p>\n
This initiative forms part of Italy\u2019s ongoing commitment to supporting peace in the Middle East and the Two-State Solution. The closing ceremony was chaired by the Deputy Secretary General and Director General for Political Affairs and International Security at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Amb. Cecilia Piccioni, with speeches by the Special Envoy for the Gaza Reconstruction, Amb. Bruno Archi, the Palestinian Ambassador, Mona Abuamara, and the Director of ITC-ILO, Mr. Christophe Perrin.
