We need to strike a balance between force and diplomacy.\u201d<\/p>\n At the end of this path, do you envisage Rome hosting a peace agreement between Israel and Lebanon? <\/strong><\/p>\n \u201cWe are always ready to play a role in bringing peace to the Middle East.\u201d<\/p>\n What is our \u2018red line\u2019 regarding the naval mission in Hormuz? And did the Americans ask you to move closer to the area even before a proper ceasefire had been established? <\/strong><\/p>\n \u201cAt present, there has been no such request. We would, however, like to reiterate that we will take part in any mine clearance mission once there is a genuine ceasefire. We are not going there to wage war.\u201d<\/p>\n Are you worried that the other Straits might be closed? <\/strong><\/p>\n \u201cTo be honest, I can see some positive signs. Oil prices have fallen over the last two days. There are some signs of dialogue. Not least because the alternative \u2013 a new energy crisis \u2013 must be avoided at all costs: it would affect oil, gas and fertilisers, and would be extremely damaging to the global economy.\u201d<\/p>\n Yesterday you allocated EUR 140 million for excise duties. Will you renew this measure after 6 August? <\/strong><\/p>\n \u201cOn 4 August there will be another Council of Ministers, and we will see whether further action is needed. We will do whatever is necessary. But if the price of oil falls, as we hope it will, there will be no further measures. I have also proposed a EUR 300 fuel allowance for private-sector workers with an income of less than EUR 50,000.\u201d<\/p>\n Let\u2019s move on to Safe.
