Doors opened at the Embassy of Italy in Prague on 7 August to celebrate the 80th anniversary of the Vespa, the historic Piaggio scooter patented in 1946 by the Abruzzese engineer Corradino D\u2019Ascanio.<\/p>\n
In collaboration with the Vespa Club in Prague, the courtyard of the diplomatic headquarters hosted a selection of vintage and contemporary models, recognised symbols of Italian excellence in the world. The initiative was presented by Ambassador Alessandro Gaudiano and the President of the Club Massimo Canepa. The Vespas then left from the Embassy courtyard toward the Castle, for a route through Prague’s streets and squares.<\/p>\n
The organisers pointed out that the Vespa, for eighty years, represents not only an industrial success, but also an icon of Italian style, creativity and freedom of movement, linked in the international imagination to the \u201cdolce vita\u201d.
