Foreign Minister Antonio Tajani will be in South America from tomorrow, leading a government mission to Argentina and Brazil alongside Confindustria and a delegation of over 100 Italian companies, together with senior representatives from ITA, SACE and SIMEST. The mission will stop off in Buenos Aires on 8 September \u2013 where the Minister of Education and Merit, Giuseppe Valditara, will also be present \u2013 and in S\u00e3o Paulo on 9 and 10 September.<\/p>\n
In Argentina, Minister Tajani will hold meetings with the country\u2019s authorities and lead economic meetings aimed at strengthening trade, investment and industrial partnerships between Italian and Argentine companies. The mission will then continue to S\u00e3o Paulo, where the Minister will lead the Italian delegation in institutional meetings and discussions with the Brazilian business community, with the aim of strengthening the presence of Italian companies and developing new partnerships in sectors with the highest potential.<\/p>\n
The aim of the mission is to strengthen Italy\u2019s economic presence in two strategic Latin American markets and to create new opportunities for our companies, within the framework of the \u201cgrowth diplomacy\u201d strategy promoted by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the prospects opened up by the EU-Mercosur Agreement. According to Eurostat, in the two-month period from May to June 2026, trade in goods between the EU and Mercosur totalled 21.79 billion euros, compared with 18.30 billion in the same period of 2025. The increase was therefore 3.49 billion euros, equivalent to 19 per cent. Trade between Italy and the Mercosur countries has shown an overall positive trend in recent years, recording 51% growth over the period 2019\u20132025 and confirming the region\u2019s strategic importance for Italian foreign trade.
