These were some of the key issues discussed by Under-Secretary for Foreign Affairs Marta Dass\u00f9 during her visit to Washington from 21 to 23 February 2012.<\/P><br \/>\n<P>During her two days in the US capital, Under-Secretary Dass\u00f9 had meetings with Deputy Secretary of State Bill Burns and the Assistant Secretary for Europe, Phil Gordon. With both she discussed the situation in the Balkans, focusing in particular on the outlook for Serbia-EU relations. <\/P><br \/>\n<P>Under-Secretary Dass\u00f9 also met the Ambassador-at-Large for Global Women\u2019s Issues, Melanne Verveer.<\/P><br \/>\n<P>Her visit included talks with key figures from distinguished Washington think tanks. She also took part in a round table at the Brookings Institution on the impact of the economic-financial situation on the European Union\u2019s foreign policy. <STRONG><\/STRONG><\/P><br \/>\n<P>Under-Secretary Dass\u00f9 commented with great satisfaction on the outcome of her visit to the US capital. \u201cPeople here showed great interest in Italy\u2019s role in the Balkans. I found them fully in tune with us on the importance of the region achieving fuller integration with the European Union.
