With regard to the EU oil embargo against Iran, Terzi announced that \u201cItaly is with Europe: we are certainly with Europe\u201d, the minister asserted. \u201cWe have been an element of impetus in the application of a dual track policy\u201d, he added. The pressure will continue until \u201cIran returns to the negotiating table and suspends its nuclear enrichment programme\u201d. Terzi recalled that EU High Representative Catherine Ashton \u201cis still waiting for an answer\u201d from Iran in response to the 5+1 group\u2019s invitation to resume negotiations. <\/P>

The EU\u2019s oil sanctions against Iran will be \u201cgradual\u201d so as to allow the market to absorb the impact. \u201cWe do not foresee any major impact on the global economy and on global supply\u201d, the minister said. <\/P>

Terzi expressed \u201cdisappointment\u201d with Syria\u2019s rejection of the Arab league plan. \u201cThe situation in Syria is of critical concern\u201d, he said. Indeed, the foreign ministers also approved new sanctions against the Syrian regime.
