On 27 October, the Agostinho Neto Memorial hosted the event \u2018RE-DESIGN: REGENERATE \u2013 Spaces, objects, ideas and relationships\u2019, which brought together Italian and Angolan institutions, architects, academics and professionals as part of the 10th edition of Italian Design Day. The initiative was organised by the Embassy of Italy in Angola, in collaboration with the Italian Trade Agency (ITA).<\/p>\n
Following opening remarks by the Ambassador of Italy to Angola, Marco Ricci, and a speech by the Angolan Undersecretary for Urban Planning and Housing, Concei\u00e7\u00e3o Lu\u00eds Crist\u00f3v\u00e3o, a round-table discussion was held on the challenges of urban planning, attended by Nina Bassoli, an architect, researcher and curator of the sections dedicated to architecture, urban regeneration and cities at the Triennale Milano.<\/p>\n
During the event, the \u2018O Pensador de Alkebulan\u2019 project was also presented: a series of fashion designs made from recycled materials and created by Atelier Alda Fashion. The project is an interesting example of the circular economy and has helped to highlight the role of Italy, the country with the highest recycling rate in Europe. Finally, the CITIES exhibition, curated by Nina Bassoli and dedicated to a number of significant urban projects aimed at addressing inequalities through the tools of architecture and urban planning, was also inaugurated at the Memorial. The exhibition will be open to the Angolan public until 8 January 2027, to mark the National Day of Angolan Culture.<\/p>\n
