Vice Minister Emanuela Del Re participated on behalf of Italy in the international donors\u2019 Conference of in solidarity with Venezuelan refugees and migrants, that was held today virtually.<\/p>\n
“Being as well a host country for refugees fleeing hunger, war and persecution, Italy supports the efforts of Latin American countries that have taken in millions of Venezuelan refugees,” the Deputy Minister said. She announced an Italian contribution of 3 million euros that will be used to finance the UN regional plan of assistance to migrants and refugees.<\/p>\n
“In addition to being committed from the humanitarian point of view, Italy is working to ensure a political solution to the Venezuelan crisis,” Ms Del Re concluded.<\/p>\n
The conference, organised by the Spanish government and the European Union, in coordination with UNHCR and IOM, was attended by some 60 delegations, including governments and humanitarian organizations.<\/p>\n
