Nations"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Representatives of\u00a0the United States of America, France, Germany, Italy, Norway, the European Union,\u00a0the United Kingdom\u00a0and the United Nations\u00a0met on March 1 in Doha, Qatar and:\u202f\u00a0<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>Welcomed the important steps, enabled by the United States \u2013 Taliban agreement and the United States \u2013 Afghanistan joint declaration of February 29, towards ending the war and opening the door to intra-Afghan negotiations scheduled for March 10.\u00a0<\/li>\n<li>Expressed their readiness to work towards a comprehensive and sustainable peace agreement that ends the war, contributes to regional stability and global security, respects the internationally-recognized rights of all Afghans also reflected in the Afghan Constitution, and is honored by all Afghans, including the Government of the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan, political leaders, civil society and the Taliban.<\/li>\n<li>Reiterated that a comprehensive and sustainable peace can be achieved only through an inclusive negotiated political settlement among Afghans, in which, notably, women participate meaningfully, and by respecting Afghanistan\u2019s integrity and sovereignty.\u202f\u00a0<\/li>\n<li>Reaffirmed that the\u00a0Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan is\u00a0not recognized\u202fby the international community, and furthermore,\u00a0the international community\u00a0will not\u202faccept or\u202fsupport the\u202frestoration\u202fof\u202fthe Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan.\u202f\u00a0<\/li>\n<li>Welcomed the Taliban\u202fcommitting to join a\u202fpolitical process and\u202ftheir\u202fprospective role in a\u202fnew post-settlement Afghan Islamic government as determined by the intra-Afghan negotiations.\u202f\u202f\u00a0<\/li>\n<li>Appreciated the February 22-28 reduction of violence and urged\u202fall sides\u00a0to\u202ffurther decrease violence in order to create an environment conducive to intra-Afghan negotiations.\u202f\u00a0<\/li>\n<li>Called on the\u202fTaliban and other Afghan\u00a0armed groups\u202fto\u202ftake concrete steps to ensure that\u202fthe\u202fterritory of Afghanistan should not be used by\u00a0either them or\u00a0al-Qa-ida, Daesh,\u202for other international terrorist groups to threaten or attack other countries.\u202f\u202f\u00a0<\/li>\n<li>Stated their expectations that all sides will observe a ceasefire for the duration of intra-Afghan negotiations to enable participants to reach agreement on a political roadmap for Afghanistan\u2019s future\u00a0and the modalities of a permanent and comprehensive ceasefire.\u202f\u00a0<\/li>\n<li>Called\u202fon\u202fall Afghans\u202fto\u202fbegin\u202fdiscussions\u202fimmediately\u202fon issues of mutual concern, such as prisoner releases\u202fand a ceasefire.\u202f\u202f\u00a0<\/li>\n<li>Reaffirmed existing commitments to provide political support and economic and development assistance to\u202fa future Afghan government, provided\u202fthat it preserves and respects\u202fthe internationally-recognized rights of all Afghans also reflected in the Afghan Constitution, including for women, youth and minorities, and responds to the desire of Afghans to build on the gains achieved since 2001.\u202f<\/li>\n<li>Reaffirmed existing commitments\u00a0to continue\u00a0assistance to the\u00a0Afghan\u00a0National Defense and Security\u00a0Forces\u00a0on a sustainable basis.\u202f\u00a0<\/li>\n<li>Took note of\u00a0the\u00a0readiness\u00a0of\u00a0the United States\u00a0upon the commencement of the intra-Afghan negotiations to\u00a0engage with other members of the United Nations Security Council and\u00a0Afghanistan\u00a0to\u00a0review\u00a0\u00a0the status of\u202fsanctions\u202fdesignations in order to support the peace process,\u202fnoting\u202fthat Taliban action to\u202ffurther\u202freduce violence,\u00a0make sustained efforts to advance intra-Afghan negotiations,\u00a0and otherwise cease to engage in or support activities that threaten the peace, stability and security of Afghanistan or other countries will affect the review.\u202f\u202f\u00a0<\/li>\n<li>Encouraged all\u00a0countries to support the Afghan people and contribute to a lasting peace settlement in the interest of all.\u202f\u00a0<\/li>\n<li>Welcomed all
