A meeting on Zoom dedicated to Italian contributions to innovation and sustainability in the rapidly changing world of fashion. A webinar organised for tonight by the Italian Cultural Institute of New York, in collaboration with the Italian Cultural Institute of Los Angeles. What does sustainable fashion mean? What is your relationship with ethics, especially after the Covid-19 experience? These and many other questions will be addressed by some industry professionals who are at the forefront of rethinking the fashion industry today.<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n

Massimo Ferragamo<\/span><\/strong> is the President of Ferragamo USA, which distributes Ferragamo products throughout North America. After studying law at the University of Florence, Ferragamo moved to New York in 1985 to take up the position of Director of Ferragamo USA and President in 2000. Ferragamo is a member of the board of directors of the Ferragamo Group, Lungarno Hotels, and the American Italian Cancer Foundation. He has received honorary awards from the National Italian American Foundation in Washington DC and the Italy USA Foundation.<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n

Julie Gilhart<\/span><\/strong> is a veteran of the fashion industry known for her strong propensity for discovering potential talent that supports and helps grow. She founded Julie Gilhart Consulting in 2011 intending to support fashion brands that want to make a positive impact on the planet and society. In 2019, she merged her business with Tomorrow Consulting, of which she is now president. Among other things, she helped create Amazon Fashion, as well as the inaugural LVMH award for emerging talent. He advised on the Woolmark International Award and the CFDA + Lexus Fashion initiative * and the LVMH DARE (Disrupt Act Risk Entrepreneur) Green event dedicated to sustainable development.<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n

Sara Maino<\/span><\/strong> is deputy director of Vogue Italia and head of Vogue Talents, an international project created with Franca Sozzani in 2009 dedicated to discovering the best emerging creative talents in women’s clothing, menswear, accessories, and fashion photography around the world. She regularly participates in international talent search committees. Sara Maino is a judge at several fashion competitions, including the LVMH prize, International Talent Support (ITS), the Woolmark prize, the Fashion Trust Arabia, and many others. Since 2018 she has been International Brand Ambassador for the National Chamber of Italian Fashion, to promote and support Made in Italy.<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n

Marina Spadafora<\/strong>, is a designer and entrepreneur. After having signed a famous collection of experimental knitwear, has collaborated with Prada, Miu Miu, Ferragamo and Marni. Since 2007 she has been working on ethical fashion projects, from Banqu to Cangiari, to develop initiatives for Africa with Franca Sozzani, and was creative director of Altromercato for the Auteurs du Monde line. Professor of Ethical Fashion at academies in Italy and abroad, she is the Italian coordinator of Fashion Revolution, an international movement fighting for a fair, transparent, and responsible fashion industry. She received the United Nations Women together award in New York in 2015 and held a Ted Talk. <\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n
