From 9:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. o<\/strong>n 7 May 2018<\/strong>, the New-Med Conference\u00a0“Youth Potential in the Mediterranean – Unlocking Opportunities, Overcoming Challenges”<\/strong>\u00a0will be held at the Farnesina. The Conference is organised by the Institute of Foreign Affairs (IAI), in partnership with International Affairs of Compagnia di San Paolo of Turin, The German Marshall Fund of the United States (GMF) and the Italian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, under the auspices of Italy’s OSCE Chairmanship.<\/p>\n

The Conference will be held entirely in English. Eight young academics from the Middle East and North Africa will participate in the event to discuss topical issues such as climate change, radicalisation, and the migrant and refugee crisis.<\/p>\n

The conference will open with remarks by the Coordinator of Italy’s OSCE Chairmanship for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation,\u00a0Vinicio Mati<\/strong>; the Senior Fellow IAI & Senior Lecturer of the University of Bologna,\u00a0Lorenzo Kamel<\/strong>; and the Head of the Programme of International Affairs of the Compagnia di San Paolo of Turin,\u00a0Nicol\u00f2 Russo Perez<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

They will be followed by work sessions with the participation of numerous academics, institutions and international organisations.<\/p>\n

The conference will close with remarks by the Director of the Policy Planning Unit of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation,\u00a0Armando Barucco<\/strong>; the Mediterranean Policy Program Officer at the German Marshall Fund of the United States (GMF),\u00a0Charlotte Brandsma<\/strong>; the Special Representative of Italy’s OSCE Chairmanship for Youth and Security,\u00a0Riccardo Pozzi<\/strong>; and the Executive Vice President of IAI,\u00a0Ettore Greco<\/strong>.<\/p>\n
