Fifth edition"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Fifth edition of the MED-Dialogues Conference promoted by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation and by ISPI\u00a0The\u00a0<strong>Fifth Edition of the Rome MED &#8211; Mediterranean Dialogues Conference<\/strong>, promoted since 2015 by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation and by ISPI will be held in Rome\u00a0at the Hotel Parco dei Principi, via Gerolamo Frescobaldi 5,\u00a0<strong>From 5 to 7 December 2019<\/strong>. The Conference will be held over a three-day period (for the preliminary program and accreditation see <a href=\"it\/sala_stampa\/areagiornalisti\/notestampa\">https:\/\/www.esteri.it\/mae\/it\/sala_stampa\/areagiornalisti\/notestampa<\/a>).<\/p>\n<p><strong>More than 40 leaders will participate in the MED Dialogues<\/strong>, including Presidents, Prime Ministers and Ministers and about 1000 entrepreneurs, academics, representatives of the major international organizations as well as scholars and experts from\u00a0<strong>over 50 countries<\/strong>. Also this year there are over 40 sessions grouped into 4 pillars: &#8220;Shared security&#8221;, &#8220;Shared prosperity&#8221;, &#8220;Migration&#8221; and &#8220;Culture and civil society&#8221;.<\/p>\n<div>\u00a0The Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, Luigi\u00a0<strong>DI MAIO<\/strong>, will open the conference on December 6th, while the conclusion is scheduled for Saturday, December 7th, with the contribution of the President of the Council of Ministers, Giuseppe <strong>CONTE<\/strong>.<\/div>\n<div>\u00a0<\/div>\n<div>Participants in the conference include Idriss<strong>\u00a0D\u00e9by ITNO<\/strong>, President of the Republic of Chad, Joseph\u00a0<strong>MUSCAT<\/strong>, Prime Minister of Malta, Mohammed bin Abdulrahman bin Jassim\u00a0<strong>AL-THANI<\/strong>, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs of Qatar and many Foreign Affairs Ministers, among whom: Sabri\u00a0<strong>BOUKADOUM<\/strong>, Algeria; Khalid bin Ahmed bin Mohammed\u00a0<strong>AL-KHALIFA<\/strong>, Bahrain; Sameh\u00a0<strong>SHOUKRY<\/strong>, Egypt; Ayman\u00a0<strong>SAFADI<\/strong>, Jordan; Subrahmanyam\u00a0<strong>JAISHANKAR<\/strong>, India; Mohammad Javad\u00ec\u00a0<strong>ZARIF<\/strong>, Iran; Mohammed Ali\u00a0<strong>AL-HAKIM<\/strong>, Iraq; Mohamed Taher\u00a0<strong>SIALA<\/strong>, Libya; Carmelo\u00a0<strong>ABELA<\/strong>, Malta; Riyad\u00a0<strong>AL-MALKI<\/strong>, Palestine; Sergey\u00a0<strong>LAVROV<\/strong>, Russia; Miroslav\u00a0<strong>CERAR<\/strong>, Slovenia; Sabri\u00a0<strong>BACHTOBJI<\/strong>, Tunisia; Mevlut\u00a0<strong>\u00c7AVU\u015eO\u011eLU<\/strong>, Turkey; as well as Tawakkol\u00a0<strong>KARMAN<\/strong>, Nobel Peace Prize, Yemen; Paolo\u00a0<strong>GENTILONI<\/strong>, Commissioner for Economic Affairs, European Commission; Geir O.\u00a0<strong>PEDERSEN<\/strong>, Special Envoy for Syria, United Nations; Ghassan\u00a0<strong>SALAME<\/strong>\u00a0\u2019, Special Representative of the Secretary General for Libya, United Nations, in addition to the President of the ISPI, Giampiero\u00a0<strong>MASSOLO<\/strong>.<\/div>\n<p>The aim of the\u00a0<strong>MED Dialogues<\/strong>\u00a0is to contribute to facing the challenges and opportunities posed by the &#8220;enlarged&#8221; Mediterranean, by focusing on the great opportunities that a positive agenda on development can offer. Among the strategic issues at the heart of the debate are: the main regional crises (with a focus on Libya and Syria); the challenges posed by the ongoing transition processes; the geopolitical competition between the various regional actors; terrorism and the fate of ISIS; the management of migration flows; the geopolitical impact of climate change; the new energy scenarios; and the role of investments and technological innovation in the region.<\/p>\n<div>\n<div><strong>Ten preparatory meetings (Towards MED)\u00a0<\/strong>have been organized in Doha, Geneva, Brussels, Rome, Abu Dhabi, Moscow, Beirut, Washington, New York and Riyadh to enrich the contribution of ideas and proposals.
