On Thursday, 15 March,\u00a0<\/strong>the\u00a0Farnesina will host the\u00a0Ministerial Meeting<\/strong>\u00a0\u201cLebanon, building trust: a viable security for the country and the region\u201d on supporting the Lebanese Security Forces.\u00a0 <\/strong>“The meeting was announced last October when Lebanon’s Prime Minister Hariri was last in Rome and was mentioned in the Joint Statement adopted on the sidelines of the Ministerial Meeting of the International Support Group for Lebanon (ISG) held in Paris last 8 December. The Ministerial Meeting will be attended by the representatives of over 40 Countries. It will be an opportunity to manifest a broad international support to the process that the Lebanese Government set in motion to strengthen the capacity and effectiveness of the Security Forces, with a view to supporting the sovereignty and\u00a0independence of the Country and its institutions,” said the Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation,\u00a0Angelino Alfano<\/strong>. He continued: “The Conference hosted by the Farnesina forms part of a roadmap comprising three events dedicated to Lebanon (Rome, Paris and Brussels) planned by the ISG in order to support the Country along its path towards stability and growth, in line with its concrete and lasting efforts to distance itself from regional crises.”<\/p>\n

The Conference will open with remarks by the Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation,\u00a0Angelino Alfano<\/strong>, followed by the opening speeches by Lebanon’s Prime Minister,\u00a0Saad Hariri<\/strong>, the UN Secretary General\u00a0Antonio Guterres<\/strong>\u00a0and Prime Minister\u00a0Paolo Gentiloni<\/strong>.<\/p>\n
