On Thursday, 27 April 2017, from 10:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m.,<\/strong>\u00a0the Farnesina will hold the conference entitled \u201cSixty\u00a0years\u00a0and\u00a0beyond:\u00a0contributing\u00a0to\u00a0development\u00a0cooperation\u201d<\/strong>, a high-level meeting on development cooperation within the European Union. The Conference will open with remarks by the Minister for Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, Angelino Alfano<\/strong>, and by the EU Commissioner for International Development and Cooperation, Neven\u00a0Mimica<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

\u201cAs part of the celebrations for the 60th<\/sup> anniversary of the signing of the Treaty of Rome, we want to dedicate a moment of reflection to development cooperation. In providing assistance to growth and development, the EU beams the \u2018Union proud of its values\u2019 that European leaders evoked in the Declaration signed here in Rome last 25 of March,\u201d explained the Minister for Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, Angelino Alfano, on opening the event. He went on to recall: \u201cDevelopment cooperation represents the external dimension of solidarity of the Union, which is the world\u2019s top development aid donor. The European project cannot express itself fully unless it holds out a hand beyond its borders.\u201d<\/p>\n

The conference, which will be moderated by the Foreign Ministry\u2019s Director General for Development Cooperation,\u00a0Pietro Sebastiani<\/strong>, schedules numerous contributions by personalities of the international political panorama including\u00a0Marcel\u00a0Amon\u00a0Tanoh<\/strong>, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the C\u00f4te d\u2019Ivoire, Jean-Marie Le\u00a0Guen<\/strong>, the French Minister of State for Development and Francophonie, Zanda\u00a0Kalnina-Lukasevica<\/strong>, Undersecretary for Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Latvia, and\u00a0Emma Bonino<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

The conference will close with remarks by the Director General for Development Cooperation of the EU Stefano\u00a0Manservisi<\/strong> and by the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, Mario Giro<\/strong>, and with the screening of a video message from the High Representative of the Union for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy, Federica\u00a0Mogherini<\/strong>.<\/p>\n
