On Tuesday 5 May 2015 the Minister for Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, Paolo Gentiloni will open the Conference \u201cAn Italian vision for the future of Europe\u201d at the Institute for International Political Studies (ISPI) of Milan (Via Clerici 5).<\/p>\n
The meeting will take place from 11:00 to 12:30, and participants are to include Undersecretary to the Presidency of the Council of Ministers for European Affairs Sandro Gozi, Professor of Monetary Economics of the Bocconi University and ISPI Vice President Franco Bruni, Professor of Policitical Science at the University of Milan and ISPI Scientific Advisor Maurizio Ferrera, President and CEO of Pirelli S.p.A. Marco Tronchetti Provera and President of Unicredit S.p.A Giuseppe Vita. Coordinating the sessions will be ISPI President Giancarlo Aragona.<\/p>\n
The debate will centre on the need to strengthen the process of EU political integration in order to confront current challenges, first and foremost the management of immigration flows in the Mediterranean and in consequence of the results of the recent extraordinary European Council requested by Italy. Other important aspects of Italy\u2019s vision for reinforcing European policies will include economic governance and stronger social policies, as well as a leap in quality in the common foreign and security policy.<\/p>\n
The meeting will take place in proximity with the presentation in parliament of a planning report on Italy\u2019s participation in the European Union, and will offer an opportunity for reflection on the results of the Italian Presidency of the EU.<\/p>\n
