The Deputy\u00a0Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, Emanuela Del Re,\u00a0received at the Farnesina Abdullah Bin Abdulaziz Al Rabeeah, Advisor to the Royal\u00a0Court of Saudi Arabia and Supervisor General of the King Salman Humanitarian\u00a0Aid and Relief Centre Abdulraqeb Saif Fateh Al-Dubai, Yemen’s minister of\u00a0local administration and chairman of Yemen’s High Relief Committee. The\u00a0meeting focused on the ongoing conflict and the humanitarian situation in Yemen.<\/p>\n
The Deputy\u00a0Minister reaffirmed Italy\u2019s conviction that only a political solution to the\u00a0conflict can pave the way to solving the current humanitarian crisis. Italy has\u00a0always supported the UN-led mediation process and the efforts of the UN Special\u00a0Envoy, as the only remaining viable option. \u00a0\u201cWe are fully aware\u00a0of the suffering of the Yemeni population and we must urgently put an end to it,\u201d\u00a0said Deputy Minister Emanuela Del Re. Italy made a 5-million-euro contribution to\u00a0assure humanitarian assistance during the current year, which have already been
distributed among the international organisations on the ground to support\u00a0humanitarian operations, especially in the sector of food security, health and\u00a0the protection of the most vulnerable groups. A further 1-million-euro\u00a0contribution will be made in the course of 2019 to support humanitarian\u00a0demining and healthcare activities.\u00a0Deputy Minister Emanuela\u00a0Del Re and Minister Abdulraqeb also analysed some of the critical points in accessing\u00a0the humanitarian aid provided to the Country and the need reconsider all customs\u00a0and tax provisions in order to facilitate the entry of humanitarian relief
