On Tuesday 22 October 2013, at 09.00<\/STRONG>, Foreign Minister Emma Bonino will open the international conference on \u201cAction to achieve commitments in UNGA Resolution 67\/146. Intensifying global efforts for the elimination of female genital mutilations<\/STRONG>\u201d at the Parco della Musica Auditorium in Rome. The conference is organised by the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA), in collaboration with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs the United Nations International Children’s Emergency Fund (UNICEF) and the Italian Association for Women in Development (AIDOS).<\/P>

Media representatives can follow the opening remarks by Foreign Minister Emma Bonino, the Executive Director of UNFPA, Babatunde Osotimehin, and the First Lady of Burkina Faso, Mrs. Chantal Compaor\u00e9, Goodwill Ambassador of the Inter-African Committee on Harmful Practices. <\/P>

A family photo is scheduled for 11.15, followed by a press conference <\/STRONG>by Minister Bonino, Babatunde Osotimehin, Chantal Compaor\u00e9 and Susan Bissell, UNICEF\u2019s Associate Director and Chief for Child Protection.<\/P>
