Indeed, business people\u2019s interest for Italy is very high, as I was able to find out directly when I met with many of them, both in Italy and abroad. Personally, I have put economic diplomacy at the centre of my mandate at the Farnesina, as testified by the stops of the roadshow \u2018The Farnesina Meets Companies\u2019, which have already taken me to numerous Italian cities. Economic diplomacy means supporting the Italian economy by helping our companies to expand abroad and by working to attract ever-more foreign companies to invest in Italy. Indeed, our Country offers great opportunities as Europe\u2019s second-largest manufacturing Country and a gateway to the 500 million consumers in the European Union and to the 270-million market in the Countries of the Southern Mediterranean and of the Middle East,\u201d said the Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, Angelino Alfano, at the event: \u201cInvesting in Italy: Regulatory and Institutional Framework for Foreign Investments\u201d taking place at the Farnesina from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. today, 13 of June. \u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>This first inter-ministerial meeting on attracting foreign investments was co-organised by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, the Ministry of Economy and Finance, the Ministry for Economic Development and by the Conference of Regions and Autonomous Provinces.<\/p>\n<p>The event, which was open with remarks by Minister Alfano, offered the opportunity to illustrate the Government\u2019s strategy to improve the business environment and thus make our Country more attractive for foreign investments.<\/p>\n<p>Addressed to the ambassadors and diplomats of nearly 50 Countries, as well as to the representatives of multinational corporations operating in Italy and law and consulting firms, the event also presented the \u201cGlobal Attractiveness Index\u201d by The European House \u2013 Ambrosetti, a multi-dimensional analytical model on the Country\u2019s attractiveness.<\/p>\n<p>The day\u2019s programme also included contributions by representatives of the institutions that operate in this sector who will bring their testimony: Nuovo Pignone &#8211; G.E.
