By invitation of the Ministry of Economic Development, at the recent plenary assembly to instate the National Anti-Counterfeiting Council (CNAC) for 2018-2020, the Foreign Ministry joined the Protocol of Understanding on training activities against counterfeited and Italian sounding products, and committed to involve Italian schools abroad in the effort.<\/p>\n
The National Anti-Counterfeiting Council\u00a0(CNAC) is an inter-ministerial body established at the Ministry of Economic Development together with 9 more Ministries (in addition to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, MAECI, the Ministries of Economy and Finance, of Defence, of Agricultural, Food and Forestry Policies, of the Interior, of Justice, of Cultural Heritage and Activities, of Labour and Social Policies, of Health, of the Public Administration) and a representative of the National Association of Italian Municipalities (ANCI). The representative of the Foreign Ministry is Plenipotentiary Minister Fabrizio Nicoletti.<\/p>\n
MAECI\u2019s participation in the Protocol forms part of the strategy to combat counterfeiting and the Italian sounding phenomenon already promoted by the Ministry through its network of Embassies, Consular Offices and Permanent Missions, at both bilateral and multilateral level. In a globalised market, this strategy is key to guaranteeing the competitiveness and internationalisation of Italy\u2019s economic system and to defending Italy\u2019s interests.
