\u201cItaly is a real superpower of Culture: the aptitude for dialogue, the respectful approach to different cultural identities, the natural vocation for pluralism are the groundwork of our cultural diplomacy and of Italy\u2019s diplomatic policy in general,\u201d said the Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, Angelino Alfano, when presenting the first edition of the \u201cDiplomatia for Culture\u201d Award. The prize is an initiative of the Diplomatia Association under the patronage by the Foreign Ministry that will take place tonight at 7 p.m. in the beautiful Roman venue of Villa Madama. As the event\u2019s guest of honour, Minister Alfano will address a word of welcome before passing the floor to the president of Diplomatia, Ambassador Giovanni Castellaneta, who will illustrate the initiative promoted by an association that, for over 25 years, has been committed to enhancing cooperation between Institutions and civil society by strengthening the dialogue between the worlds of diplomacy and of business.<\/p>\n
Minister Alfano: \u201cCultural and economic diplomacy work side by side: our Country is an essential global point of reference also because of our many points of excellence in terms of fashion, design, cuisine and landmarks, which all lead back to the concept of the \u201cItalian Way of Life\u201d. \u201cThe Foreign Ministry, through its diplomatic and consular network and the Italian Cultural Institutes, launched over 7,000 integrated promotion initiatives in 2017. If Italian export has risen 7.4%, touching almost 450 billion euros, it is thanks to the spread of our brand and of the concept of beauty, creativity and high-tech that goes with it,\u201d affirmed the chief of Italy\u2019s diplomacy.
