It is the tangible result of the briefing on the same matter delivered to the UNSC last 28 November, organised by Italy while holding the rotating presidency,\u201d said the Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, Angelino Alfano, specifying that \u201cItaly has succeeded to bring the Libyan dossier back at the top of the international agenda.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The Minister continued: \u201cThe harsh condemnation by the UNSC of the degrading episodes and the reduction to slavery of African migrants, as well as the support expressed by the UN\u2019s executive body to the Libyan Presidential Council\u2019s decision to open an investigation to establish the responsibilities for the violation of human rights in Libya are the first results of a process in which Italy, as President of the UNSC, has invested great resources.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>He added: \u201cAt the same time, it is important that the UN Security Council has emphasised the importance of the activities performed by the United Nations Agencies (UNHCR and IOM)\u00a0on the Libyan territory: the role of these agencies has also always been supported by our Government.
