We are close to the German people in this sorrowful moment, which should instead be of joy and peace as we approach the Christmas festivities,\u201d said Angelino Alfano, the Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, when commenting the tragic events perpetrated in the German capital.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThese last few days\u2019 repeated episodes \u2013 Minister Alfano added \u2013 will not change our determination to combat terrorism together with our international Partners and alongside Germany in particular, with which Italy is closely coordinated.\u201d He went on: \u201cI want to assure our fellow-citizens that the Italian Government is carefully monitoring the developments in close cooperation with German institutions and with Italian consular officials.
