This morning, Deputy Minister Manlio Di Stefano\u00a0has taken\u00a0part in the signing ceremony of the Headquarters Agreement between the International Centre for Genetic Engineering and Biotechnology (ICGEB) and the Italian Government. The\u00a0ICGEB has been represented\u00a0by its Director General, Lawrence Banks.<\/p>\n
The ICGEB is an international intergovernmental organisation that plays a key role in the fields of molecular genetics and biotechnology worldwide, with advanced research laboratories in Trieste, New Delhi (India) and Cape Town (South Africa).<\/p>\n
\u201cThe signing of this agreement,\u201d the Deputy Minister\u00a0has\u00a0said, \u201cconfirms both Italy’s and the Centre’s desire to\u00a0provide\u00a0a concrete contribution to sustainable global development through advanced experimental research. We strongly believe in the solutions\u00a0with which\u00a0modern biotechnology can come up to solve the problems of our planet and its inhabitants, and the contribution\u00a0provided by the\u00a0ICGEB in the fight against Covid-19 has been tangible proof of this.\u201d<\/p>\n
