The talks\u00a0have\u00a0focused on the main dossiers relating to the enlarged Mediterranean\u00a0region.<\/p>\n<p>With regard to Libya, Minister Di Maio\u00a0has reaffirmed\u00a0Italy&#8217;s commitment to supporting the political transition process through the achievement of two priority objectives: the elections to be held on 24 December and the withdrawal of all mercenaries and foreign fighters.<\/p>\n<p>With reference to the Israeli-Palestinian peace process, Minister Di Maio\u00a0has\u00a0called for the revitalisation of the diplomatic initiative for a political solution to the conflict, confirming the identity of views with\u00a0Jordan\u00a0on the prospect of a two-State solution and respect for the status quo in the Holy Places.<\/p>\n<p>The two\u00a0Ministers\u00a0have also\u00a0exchanged views on other major current regional issues, such as\u00a0the\u00a0Lebanon, Syria, Iraq, Iran, Afghanistan and the fight against terrorism, recording important convergence of opinions,\u00a0thus\u00a0confirming the strong bond of friendship that underlies bilateral relations.<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.esteri.it\/mae\/resource\/img\/2021\/10\/safadi.jpg\" alt=\"safadi\" style=\"display: block; margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto;\" \/><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"Today\u00a0the Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, Luigi Di Maio,\u00a0has\u00a0received \u00a0at the Foreign Ministry the Jordanian Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs,\u00a0Ayman Safadi.
